Cameron Pet Foods

From 1 July 2012, dog owners will be helping to protect over 500 rhinos in KwaZulu-Natal.
Cameron Pet Foods is donating R2.00 from every bag of their high-quality dog food  to Project Rhino KZN’s Aerial Surveillance and Security programme (PRASS).

Through this year-long partnership, pet owners around the country will be contributing over R500,000.00 directly to fighting the rhino crisis.  “We are not only lovers of dogs but all animals, especially those that are unique to Africa and on the brink of extinction.  Rhinos are a part of our heritage, our country, of us as nation.  Only when we all unite and contribute – big or small – can the efforts of organizations such as Project Rhino KZN save them for our future and for generations to come,” explained Aniré van der Walt, Marketing Director for Cameron Pet Foods.

Project Rhino KZN’s Aerial Surveillance and Security programme is the first in the country to provide onsite, permanent aerial support to a large number of private, community and state reserves.  Funding for the purchase of a Cheetah aircraft has been provided by WWF Netherlands and the programme will commence in northern KZN in September 2012.  The PRASS programme aims to provide rhino owners with additional, proactive security for one of the country’s most signficant populations of White and Black rhinos.

Funds from Cameron Pet Foods high-quality Achiever and Lifestyle adult dog and puppy food ranges are earmarked for the PRASS pilot’s employment costs over the next three years. The Cameron Pet Food range is available through retailers, pet stores, co-ops and Veterinary clinics nationwide.

Also benefiting from Cameron Pet Foods’ support are Project Rhino KZN’s two Put Foot Rally teams, who are  keeping the poaching crisis in the international media spotlight during this high-profile adventure race through six southern African countries, between 20 June and 6 July 2012.
